How XpressAble Began
My son sometimes struggles to find the right words in conversation. Not because he doesn't have thoughts — he has plenty — but because in the moment, when someone asks him a question, the words don't always come. I watched him freeze, look away, or give a one-word answer that didn't capture what he really meant.
As a parent, it's one of the hardest things to watch. You know there's so much inside, and you just wish you could give him a little nudge — not answer for him, but help him get there himself.
I started with iPhone Shortcuts, trying to build a simple workflow that could listen to a question and whisper a suggested response through his headphones. It worked — imperfectly, but it worked enough to know we were onto something.
That prototype became XpressAble. A proper iOS app, powered by AI, designed from the ground up with one goal: to help children who can speak, but sometimes need a little help finding their words, communicate more naturally and confidently.
XpressAble is free. It always will be during this period of growth. Because every child who needs this deserves access to it — not just families who can afford a subscription.
